The English Student

The clock struck 10. It was time for my class. I picked up my books and entered my most favorite class in this school, and my eyes, by default started scanning for her. She wasn't in her usual place, which means she wasn't present.

She was one of the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Unfortunately, she had to be my student. But, that never stopped me from looking over at her whenever I had the chance or to do her few favors, because without doubt she was my favorite student.

My high hopes came crashing down and I wondered if my morning shave had all gone for a toss, when I heard a faint, "May I come in Sir?".
I turned around and saw her smiling up at me with an apology, I nodded for her to come in, and was happy when she couldn't take her eyes off me.

Certainly, I was no Leonardo Di Caprio or Brad Pitt, but I was nevertheless handsome, especially when I shaved. Her eyes wavered around my clean face for a while before she turned away to gossip with her friends. With a huge satisfaction and a smug look on my face I turned to the board. Surely, A teacher student relationship will never work out, but that doesn't mean we can't exchange those rare moments of eyes meeting, a gleeful smile and a heartfelt connection.

My morning tryst with my shaving blade had finally paid off. My clean shaven look bowled her over.

YOU

You,
You drive me insane
I wait here for you
But all in vain

You,
You make my heart beat fast
Do you even know it?
Would this last?

You,
You give me butterflies in my tummy
Do you know I exist?
Or am I a dummy?

You,
You make me cry
Yet, for you I’d do anything
Even wait here till the earth is dry

You,
Do I tell you I love you?
Or just wait here,
Till you get a view.

You,
Why did you make me fall?
When you never intended to catch?
I wish to pick a brawl.

You,
Please take a knife and stab me,
My heart doesn’t care about anything but you,
So, at least set it free.

You,
I will love you till I die,
Allow me to be there for you,
And never ask me why.

You,
Being with you is all I need.
This is why I was born.
This is my deed.

You,
Let me be a friend,
I promise you I’ll stay so,
Till the end.

You,
Just let me love you with all my heart,
I swear to keep you happy,
And sadness will be apart.

You,
I love you
I love you
I love you

ISBN-13: 978-1492720195

A story of vengeance, forgiveness and love...

After her husband’s untimely demise, Marietta Gatti is banished from the family’s villa by her spiteful mother-in-law. She returns to her hometown of Venice and her only kin—a father she hasn’t spoken to since her forced marriage. Her hope of making amends is crushed when she learns she is too late, for he recently died under suspicious circumstances. Grief-stricken, Marietta retraces her father’s last night only to discover someone may have wanted him dead—and she may be next. When the prime suspect turns out to be the father of the man she is falling in love with, Marietta risks her future happiness and her life to avenge the death of a man she once hated.

Elizabeth McKenna’s latest novel takes you back to the days of Carnival and Casanova, where lovers meet discreetly, and masks make everyone equal.

Nico shrugged in the French wingback chair they had placed by the fireplace for his portrait. He looked regal in a black silk suit trimmed in gold and a waistcoat of burgundy and gold leaf-patterned brocade. It seemed Raul had excellent taste in men’s fashions.
Marietta rolled her eyes before she settled in a chair behind the easel. “Please keep still while I draw.”
“May I talk?”
“I’d rather you didn’t.” Looking at him was going to be enough distraction. She didn’t need to listen to him also.
He ignored her request. “I have to ask—why Palladino?”
Marietta blew out an exasperated breath. “I can’t sketch you properly if you talk.”
“You could have chosen any man at the Consul’s villa. Casanova himself expressed interest in you, yet you leave with that pig.”
“It’s not what you think.” She compared her drawing to Nico and frowned. His shoulders were no longer in the same position.
“You didn’t have to suffer the man’s dismal lovemaking. What were you thinking?”
“We did not make love,” she replied through clenched teeth.
He continued as if not hearing her. “You’re the first woman in years that he didn’t have to pay, though he would never admit to his need for courtesans. I just don’t understand how you could find him appealing.”
“We did not make love.” She practically shouted it this time. “I’m not attracted to Palladino or any other man for that matter.”
This silenced him, gratefully, but only for a few moments. “Well, in that case, I know of a few courtesans that can accommodate you. I am told they are quite beautiful and skilled.”
Marietta threw down her charcoal and marched over to him. She grabbed his shoulders and repositioned him. “That is not what I meant and you know it.”
He smiled up at her innocently. “I didn’t mean to offend you, but you have refused my charms, so what should I think?”
She glared at him for her own benefit, knowing it would have no effect on the man. “You need to stop talking and moving.”
When he didn’t respond, she said, “That’s better.”
He lasted almost fifteen minutes. “So, what kind of man are you attracted to? Perhaps, I could suggest a few potential lovers.”
“How about one who has fewer conquests than fingers and toes? Or one that values honesty and fidelity over all else? Do you know any like that?”
From the thoughtful look on his face, he took this as an earnest question. “I’m afraid, Kitty, a man like that will be hard to find in Venice, especially this time of year.”
“Well, then, I guess I’ll have to go without.”
“How depressing. What will you do for amusement if you don’t take a lover?”
Marietta rubbed at her temples and decided she deserved more than the coins she’d already been paid. “There’s more to life than pleasuring oneself.”
“Really?”
“Yes, Signore, really.” She placed her stub of charcoal on the easel’s tray and rolled the stiffness from her neck and shoulders. “That is all for today. I have another appointment.” It was a lie, but she felt the need to rest and the bed in the corner was tempting her tired body.

Her short story, The Gypsy Casts a Spell, is available for free on her website http://elizabethmckenna.com/. She hopes you will enjoy her latest novel, Venice in the Moonlight, as much as others have enjoyed her previous works.

|A Parallel Universe|

Our whole universe was in a hot dense state,
Then nearly 14Billion years ago expansion started,
Wait!
It was a very tiring day as I spent the most of it being upset with the people around me. Sometimes it just feels like all of them are irresponsible and are born just to make your day bad. It was one of those days where I felt like it. So, I threw my bag at home, grabbed the keys of my Safari Storme and left to go on a long journey all by myself.

I put in a pen drive with all my favorite songs, and the day started to get better as I left. Thankfully the roads were pretty empty today, I wonder why though, as it was a weekday. But then nothing could bother me, so I went on, with high speed, racing against myself and the time. It was like a drive of my life.

And to say that it wasn't true would be the biggest lie of my life. Because I don't know how it happened or when it happened, or if it had always been the same but I just that I realized it then, everything was same, and yet everything was different.

I stopped my vehicle at once and got out. I saw my mom, right there, sitting in the verandah of a huge bungalow shouting at my brother for something he did. I was dumbstruck. What was going on? Firstly, my mother in a Bungalow? We live in a normal house, not too huge or too small, where did a Bungalow come from? And most importantly, she is scolding my brother? My MOTHER is scolding my BROTHER? That's impossible! Something is not right. I pinched myself and I winced at the pain it caused! I wasn't dreaming. So what was going on?

Credits: www.dailymail.co.uk
I moved a bit ahead to see a film star living right next to our so-called Bungalow. My jaw dropped! This definitely had to be a dream. I continued to move, and I was awestruck by everything I was seeing. This seemed like a different place, one that cannot exist, but yet it did, right in front of my eyes. It was all happening right there. But how?

I was so busy fighting with my consciousness as to whether this is true or not, that I didn't notice a man standing right behind me. Suddenly, I felt a prick at the back of my head as if someone was watching me and I turned around to see, that I was indeed being watched. That man looked eerily calm, which kind of scared me, yet I asked him the first thing that came to my mind, "What is this?".

He looked at me as he smiled and countered, "What is what?"
"This! This whole thing. This isn't real."
"Are you sure about that?", he seemed amused by my question.

I was getting really tired of this whole thing by now. Yes, it was cool the first time I saw it, but few things tend to bore you real soon.
"Look Mr, I don't know who you are, but I know this for sure, this is not the life that I live in. Look at everything here, it seems peaceful, like everyone just had a huge dose of happiness. And there are celebrities living right next door to my parents, and wait! What are my parents doing in a Bungalow. Last time I checked, we didn't have one. So, what is all this? Is it some kind of fantasy thing you are doing? Are you a magician?"

He smiled at me again, which pissed me off badly, but finally he spoke something useful, "You think this is a fantasy? A fiction?", he asked. I nodded, what else could it be? "Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you my dear, but it certainly isn't any dream or fantasy. It is as real as it could be."
"B..B...Bu..But", I stammer. I'm losing my words.

He puts his hand on my shoulders, it was soothing, just like when a father calms down his daughter. I certainly felt calm. "If you believe in it, it is real. If you don't believe in it, it isn't. It is as simple as that. Everyone you see here is real, everything that is happening here is real, and all of this", he points at everything, "is real. The only thing is that even though its all same, it is very different from the world YOU exist in."
I think about what he just told me.  As much as it makes sense, it doesn't. This man, who I don't even know, just told me that the place that I currently was in, was a parallel universe. 'Is that even possible?' I wonder.

"So, everything we dream of being in our world, we just get to live it here?" I asked, very curious. He chuckled at my question as if I was a kid who asked a silly question.
"Yes and No. This world, isn't much different from yours. You live there, and you live here. Simultaneously. You die there, you die here. Its like you are in 2 different places at once. And in both the places you are living the life opposite to the other. Its a Parallel Universe."

"So, if I am fighting with someone in my universe, then it means I am being friendly here with that person?" He doesn't reply but starts to walk. I stand still at my place, my thoughts racing faster than my car could ever go. Finally, I come back down to earth, or whatever the place I was in and run to catch up with the man.
"Okay! I believe you, I believe this. But, can I ask you one thing? If all this is true, everything in here, then why haven't I seen myself yet? I am not from this universe, I belong in the other one, that means there should be a replica of me here, shouldn't it?"

He turned to look at me, his eyes glinting, as if he was waiting for me to ask this question. Without any further ado, he pointed to someone, "That's you", he said, and started pointing to all the other people there repeating the same thing, "That's you, That's you, That's you."
I felt like this could go on forever, so I cut him short, "What do you mean? That is not me, THIS is me", I pointed to myself.

He smiled and said, "Yes, THIS is you, but so is that, and that and everyone else in here. You are the person who are talking to me now, and you are also that baby who is that lady's lap, and also that old man who is trying to walk without his walking stick, you are also that little girl who is crying over her broken toys, and also that teenage boy who is angry that his girlfriend left him. Every single person here is you, and You are the every single person here."

He continued, "Just like this parallel universe existing at one time, you are a parallel person, existing in many ways in just one time. You see, there is only ONE person in this whole world, and that is You. Everyone else here is just a part of you, they are living in a parallel life to you, in a parallel way and in a parallel world. At one place you are just being born, while at the same time in another place you are dying. Its all you. You don't die, its just a part of you which does. Once the journey of that part is over, it ceases to exist. So, if you are complaining about your best friend hurting you, it is in fact, you hurting yourself. So you see, its all you. Even me, I am a part of you, just living in a different world in a different way."

I finally understood it all. There are no different people, its just one person and a million parts of him, living at once in a different style. The creator of the world, created just one form, making sure it lived again and again, never getting to die. And in that moment, I understood how the world worked.

I got back into my car, smiling the whole time, started my engine and drove for a few minutes, until I came back to my so-called universe. I parked the car, walked into my house, shut the door and ran to my mom's room and crawled into the bed next to her, cuddling her as I fell asleep.

I was just hugging myself! And yet, I was hugging my Mother!

If only!

If only words could express

How much I miss you,

I’d speak them all,

So that you can know.

If only my eyes could speak

As to how much I need you,

I’d look at you all day,

So that you can understand.

If only my heart would be beat loud enough

For you to know that you are the reason for it,

I’d rip it open and keep it in front of you,

So that you can know how much you mean to me.

If only you could read my brain,

To know I think of you all the time,

Then I would let you read my thoughts,

So that you can recognize

If only! If only all this could happen,

So that you can understand me,

I will leave my life in your hands,

So that you can know that I love you.

Ultramintz - Review

Ultramintz, my first thought of it as I opened this beautifully designed box was that someone had sent me a box of Diamonds! To be truthfully, it was nothing less than it. Yes, you can't eat Diamonds, but you can eat Ultramintz, which is probably the best mint I've ever tasted till now.

It came packed so nicely, that at once I was impressed. I opened it in a hurry and found these little mints in the box. At first, I wondered why it was so small, but only when I put it in my mouth did I know that it was extremely effective even though it was small.

It works as soon as you put it in your mouth. Like a charm, at once, you get refreshed. The coolness and the chill spreads everywhere.

When I told my brother that we had to review it, he wondered if its safe to try out a new product. But after one mint in his mouth, he didn't even bother about anything. It became a habit for everyone in the house to put a mint in their mouth before heading out.

It not only works as a mint, but as a refresher and a mouth fresher. It is just so tasty. It seriously is the next best thing to a chewing gum.

Its so tasty, and it leaves a lasting impression. The coolness and the sweetness stays in your mouth for a long time keeping you refreshed. It became a habit for everyone in my home to eat it whenever they were tired or needed to refresh themselves.

The best part about it is that it gives the best results and is cost efficient. I didn't mind taking the whole box to college and sharing with my friends, because I knew there would be no fighting to eat it all at once, as one pellet was enough to refresh you for a long time.

In no time, it replaced our usual coffee and tea breaks. I wouldn't be shocked if it reached heights within no time. This product certainly deserves a high recognition, considering its so awesome.

I would suggest it to everyone who wants to just get out of a stressed day. It really helps. I love to just pop this into my mouth whenever possible and keep myself refreshed the whole day.

Men in my life

 1. My Dad

What can I say about my dad? He is the most PERFECT person on this earth for me. The KING of the KINGS and for him I'm his little princess. He is always there for me, through the Best and Worst times of my life. Always by my side, Holding my hands and leading me. Never has he once, forced me, but just followed me everywhere I went making sure I won't slip. I can never thank him enough.
Just love my Papa.

2. My Brother Vicky

The person I love the most on this earth is my Brother. Being 9 years older than me, he was always kind of a second dad to me. A day doesn't go by where we fight, similarly a day doesn't go by when we sit together and laugh for hours. Both being extremely naughty, I have no idea how much we have troubled our poor mother. Pranksters we are. I love him for being so protective of me. He is my role model and idol. I love the way he lives life.
Just love my Anna.

3. My Kamal Bhai

Kamal is my Brother from Another Mother, but no one who have met us till now has ever agreed to it. Everyone thinks we are siblings itself, and well we kind of are like that. Kamal is just like Vicky to me, the only difference is I can share anything I can with this idiot. He is only 2 years older than me and understands me extremely well. So yeah, if you want to know anything about me you know whom to go to. He probably knows more about me than I do. He is the only person in this world, who can make me LAUGH with tears in my eyes.
Love you Kamal bhai.

4. My Bhai Jaan

Partha, aka my bhai jaan is also my Brother from another mother. He is this sweet and cute guy who always takes care of you and guides you. Me, him and Kamal form the 3 idiots gang. We are especially good at teasing others and fighting with each other. My bhai jaan is an exceptional guy. He is extremely good at heart and always caring about others. His way and his method always pleases me. Moreover, he loves animals and has made his home a LIVING ZOO. His rabbits are probably the cutest one on this planet. He takes care of them as if they are his own kids. He will be an awesome parent. The best thing about him is, He always tells me, "Poo, you come over to my place, I will keep you in a showcase, will feed you, will look after you and take care of you. Will do whatever you want, just come na". Hehe! Sweetheart my bhai jaan is. Loves me a lot.
I love you too bhai jaan. More than you love me.

5. My Friend Hiteish

Hiteish! Aah! Where to start. This man has inspired me in so many ways that if I start to explain now I'll probably not stop talking for a few days. He is one of the most awesome person I've ever met and his sweetness, friendliness and charming bubbly nature makes sure everyone loves him. He is one of my best friends and I am glad to be he is friend because is one awesome person.

6. My Bestie Krish

Aah! What can I say about Krishna? He is the first friend I've ever had in Boys and he is my bestest friend ever. Everyone calls us Tom and Jerry. Why you ask? Because 24*7 we keep fighting, but still we can't be without each other. He is a sweet guy and extremely good, Just like me(heheh) hence we REPEL each other. You know, Like Poles repel.. Magnet theory?? Anyway, we fight so much that one would think that if we come in front of each other we will pull each other hairs out, but the fact is that, if we do go in front of each other, we both will sit down and start talking. Hehe! Crazy we are. But still, he is the only person I can talk anything with and for him also its the same.
Hate you Tommy boy. You know what I mean.

7. My Friend Vivek

Vivek is my second best friend. Aka my Choco. He is this extremely sweet guy who loves teasing others and pampering his loved ones. He is one guy, I can talk to all day and not get bored. He always makes me smile with his stupid comments and silly words. I just love how when we are together, I always have great moments. Time speeds by whenever you are here.
You are extremely sweet Choco. Always be like that.

8. My Jeeju Vik

Vikranth aka VIK aka Every Girl's dream boy, is my dearest Jeeju. He is the Choco Boy for so many people. This guy, I tell you, is handsome and sweet and extremely nice. Almost every girl is behind him. Thats why I decided that he'll be my Jeeju and whomever "HE LIKES" will be my sister. My jeeju is really sweet you see, even though so many girls are behind him he Loves only me. I'm his jaanu saali. His little kid. He loves me a lot and takes care of me as if I'm his kid. He looks after me like a Father, takes care of me like a mother, fights with me like a brother, laughs with me like a friend and loves me more than anyone else.
I love you a lot jeeju. You are a very nice person.

9. My Friend Abhi

Abhi is my sweet friend. He and me love playing Counter Strike together. Hehe! We keep fighting a lot and when I say I don't want to talk to me, he starts a server and comes to me saying, Wanna Play? And I'm like YEAH PLEASE! Hehe. Its awesome to play with him. At first I was really bad, then he trained me up. Just love playing with him. He and me love shooting each other. Hehehe!

10. My Bestie Pankaj

How do I begin to talk about this guy? It seems pretty impossible. He has been there with me through some of the worst times of my life. He has supported me, held me up and taught me that whenever you fall down you should just dust yourself and get moving. As much as I love to fight with and tease him, I have a lot of fun talking to him because believe it or not, his words have a deep impact even though he himself doesn't realize it.

Now, you might all wonder why I wrote about them? The guys in my life? Its just because all these 10 of them have stood up for me. These guys are not just some random guys but are heroes in my life. Super Heroes who deserves the title of a Soldier.

They taught me to live my life, to stand up on my own legs, to learn to not care about people who doesn't care about you, to stand up for my rights, to enjoy and cherish the little time that we get on earth. On this day, I want to thank you all, for being there for me. For standing up to me. To be there when no one else was, and someone making me the person I am today. I would never have forgotten all those hardships if not for you people in my life.

Hats off to all of you, because I know that you don't stand up only for me, but also for all the girls in your life. Thank you dear soldiers, you all are angels to me in my life.

The Stranger

This is a letter I would like to write to "THE STRANGER" that I met on road that day. He is not a celebrity or a super hero but just a normal person who emerged as an Angel that day. I wish to meet him again, just to tell him Thank You, because of what he did.

Dear Stranger,

I hope you are well.

I don't know if we will ever meet again or not, but take this post as a Thank You from my side and the rest of the people that were present that day when you stood up for what you believed in.

It was just another random day for me, waiting in the bus stop, getting on the bus and going to college. So was it for many other people. We were all accustomed to this daily schedule. One other thing that was included in it was the girls being harassed. It was now known that no matter what you did, as you stood in the crowd guys would try to touch your waist and such. Not knowing how to stop that, all girls were used to it and just ignored it all when someone touched them.

But you didn't know all that, did you? You seemed pretty new there because I had never seen you in that bus stop before. No one bothered to look at you as you walked past all them because everyone was busy in their own world, but none of us knew at that point that you'll make sure we think about you all the time.

When that guy touched the waist of the girl next to you, and you saw it, little did we know that you would catch hold of him and drag him right out so that he could face everyone. Little did we know, that you would speak out what he did, making him feel ashamed and get some scoldings from everyone. Little did we know, that you would put some sense into him by talking rather than going the hard way.

We were all surprised that day, because we had all been through this for more than a year and no one had bothered to step up to it. But that day when you stood there in the middle of the road telling all the girls not to tolerate such things, I think we all learned our lesson. And so did the guys, when you asked them not to behave so cheap just because they can't control themselves. It was mesmerizing how you told them that women are not toys and instead someone who makes all our lives easy and simple. About how women should be respected and treated properly.

Thank you for that day, oh stranger. Because since then all these things have gone low. And even if someone tries to do it, we all have learned to stand up against them. I can't thank you enough because by standing up for us, you taught us to stand up for ourselves. You showed us that we don't always need guys in our lives to protect us. We are totally capable of taking care of ourselves.

Thank you dear stranger, if not for you we would have still been the same way.
I hope we meet again, in a different circumstance so that I get to thank you in person.

I wish you well, oh stranger! You truly are a soldier, a Hero for you changed all our lives.

Sincerely,
Just a Random Girl.

My Brother, My Hero!

BlogAdda
When BlogAdda came out with this topic I wondered what to write, I mean I have never been in a position where I needed someone to stand up for me. If anything, I usually stand up for myself. So, I got to thinking, and after thinking for a long time I finally understood what this topic was about and what I had to write.

I don't need a situation to figure out who will stand up for me if I ever need help. I know for sure who will always be my side, no matter what. My brother! He will not only stand beside me all the time, but up to me whenever in need.

I remember the games we used to play when we were little. At that time Super Heroes Cartoons were at a large and we always used to act like we had super powers and we were some of the super heroes.
It used to be something like, I would be captured by an evil Villain who plans to threaten my family with it, but my brother who had super powers would try to save me. He would jump over the volcanoes (Sofa sets in the living room) and destroy the minions of the Villains and then the Villain himself (Pillows). After that, he used to take me back home making sure no one would dare to hurt me again.

It was always the same thing. Me being a Damsel in distress and my Brother my Super Hero.

And I wonder now, wouldn't he really do it if I needed his help? He obviously would. Because I am his little sweetheart and he won't let anyone hurt me. He would stand up for me no matter who he has to face. I can say that without any doubt in my mind.
At that time he pretended to be a superhero, but I guess he always remained a Super Hero to me, superpowers or not!

I am pretty sure that my Brother will not only stand up to me, but any girl for that matter if she needs a help, because he is such a gentleman.
Its true that a girl doesn't necessarily require someone to stand up for her. But neither will all guys stand up to a girl. Only few do. And those few deserved to be called as HEROES!
And my brother belongs to one of those Heroes <3. I love you dear brother, my superhero.

Me & My Superhero
I don't need any Batman, Superman or Spiderman as long as you are here. Because you are so much better than those super heroes.

The Light of Darkness

The spring had just begun,
And it was a beautiful day.
But there was no one there,
Just an empty pathway.

I decided to take a walk,
And went out to face the sun, bright,
But darkness erupted everywhere,
Consuming the light.

Wanting to forget everything,
I roamed around without fear.
But the sadness wasn't going to leave me,
And I felt my eyes fill with tear.

I hushed them right away,
And tried to give a smile.
But little did I know that,
Its been a long while.

He was my happiness,
My love and my desire.
But now he's gone away,
And left me burning like fire.

Do you see me now?
Are you happy that I'm hurt?
I have no one to share this pain with,
No friend to let it blurt.

Please come back,
And tell me everything will be fine.
Because you are not a stranger,
But someone I'd like to call Mine.

I'll be waiting for you,
Because you are all I need.
Come back and wipe this tears,
Which from my eyes bleed.
